Rebuilding confidence step by step

Walking with a zimmer frame

Challenge
Mrs. PG was admitted bed-bound after a fall, terrified of standing or walking. Although she previously mobilised with a Zimmer frame, her hospital stay caused significant regression. She required full hoist transfers and had lost all confidence in her mobility.

Solution
When Mrs. PG unexpectedly attempted to stand one day, our staff supported her safely — a breakthrough moment. She progressed from hoist transfers to the Sara Steady, while our trained team closely supervised and encouraged her through every small step.

Despite delays in receiving community therapy input, our qualified staff kept her progress safe, structured, and consistent.

Outcome
By the time therapists assessed her, Mrs. PG had already demonstrated significant improvement. She was officially approved to walk using a Zimmer frame with assistance of two, and now walks daily — not only for transfers, but for regular exercise and confidence-building.

Her journey shows how the right blend of encouragement, expertise, and safe rehabilitation can transform fear into independence.

“Our mum is walking again after having lost that ability,

over the past few months. She is more confident now

and she herself again, thanks!” - Mrs PG’s kids.
